WHP Koibuka Conference, After A Safe Trip Back

We had a great conference in Lae with OGUSA. I was only able to make it to one service due to the tribal fight in town, but the one service I was at was great. Everyone was worshipping, and had a great expectation of what God was going to do! Ezekiel, Joseph, Daniel, Ambrose, and Jo Jo was all able to make it to every service from Tuesday evening to Wednesday Evening, and every service they attended was outstanding! After leaving Lae we had a great trip. Just like when we left, on our way back we hit 0 road blocks, and had no issues with our travel. We made it back in around 12 hours, due to a late Christmas shopping stop, but the road conditions were great! We made it back around 5pm Thursday evening, and then went to the Koibuka Church opening in the Western Highlands on Thursday Morning. The conference was scheduled to start at 9:30 am, but it was far from that by the time the Pastor, and Superentendant had made it to where we were.
At 9:30 I received a text message from our General Superentendant saying that we would start at 10:30 instead of 9:30.
At 10:30 there was still no representation from this local church for their conference.
At 11:00 I called the Pastor and informed him that if no representation was there by 11:30 that I would be getting up at that time to preach, and then leave to go back to our house.
This service was scheduled for Christmas Eve, and my schedule was already filled for the day, but something that was supposed to be finished before 1pm lasted until 3pm.
With that being said the conference which had started on Tuesday of that week was amazing!
The report I received while waiting for the board members, and Pastor to show was 22 souls baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins, and 5 were filled with the Holy Ghost during the earlier days of the conference!
After the message we went to the church, and cut the ribbon for the dedication.

A little backstory from Koibuka Church...
When Brother Ua Malt was a young man in 1982, God called him to start a church in the Koibuka community.
Little did he know what God was going to do through him during this time.
The ALJC was not even heard of at the time in Papua New Guinea, but God had already given Bro. Ua a revelation of who he is.
He didn't know that this church would play a huge roll in the future as one of the original churches in the ALJC.
Brother and Sister Price came to PNG in 1994, and lived in Simbu, which is about 2 hours away.
They travelled to the Western Highlands, and met Bro Ua when traveling, and a relationship began to form.
Over time the Price family moved to Mount Hagen, where we now have the National ALJC PNG Headquarters, and when they did Koibuka Church became their home church.
After fighting Malaria for years, Brother Price had to go back to the United States due to medical issues. Before going back his daughter, and son in law (Bro, and Sis Barnett) came to PNG.
The handover takeover service took place in 2001, and the service was held at Koibuka Church!
It took several years to make this church a permanent building, but on December 24, 2021 it was finally completed, and dedicated back to the Lord!

On Christmas Day, our family stayed home, and had our Christmas Celebration. (No we do not believe Jesus was born December 25, No we do not believe in celebrating Pagan holidays, and yes we do celebrate Christmas, and I will be posting a blog just on that soon).

Our Compound Christmas Party will be on my birthday December 30, and we will be having all the families and people here on the compound here for a mumu, and so we can bless them, and reward them for all they do here!

December 27, the day the podcast aired, was Adrianna's 15th Birthday! We spent the day celebrating her, and took her to one of our favorite PNG restaurants, "The Signature" which is a new(er) steak house located in our Kopper Haus government building.

We are looking forward to the new year, and pray that God blesses you all big in 2022!

As always stay blessed, and I look forward to talking to you soon!

A Papua New Guinea Road Trip and Papua New Guinea Sushi?

It has been a pretty interesting few days, and we have a few to go!

Sunday we went to Kal Mountain Church to minister, and we had a great turnout!
The topic was "Let Me Tell You Who Jesus Is" with opening text in John 1:1,2,14 followed up with Ephesians 3:4,5 and Revelation 4:2
We then went through the 66 books of the Bible, and how Jesus was shown from Genesis to Revelation, and there is no disputing the oneness of God!
As we find in Colossians 2:9 we find that "for in him dwellers all the fullness of the Godhead bodily."

We had a great service with full altars, and Pastor Matthew Peter was the interpreter for this service.

After the altar call, and dismissal we had one young lady who felt convicted to be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of her sins, so we had a follow up service at the river!

Pastor Matthew baptized her in the name above all names!

God is so good!

Once we got home from the service Sunday I took Sister Marshall, and Adrianna to the grocery store to try to pick up enough food for them for the week. Then me and Ezekiel packed, and got to bed early for a big trip/week to Lae.

Ezekiel has been asking to go to the OGUSA (One God United Student Association) conference in Lae, but it is normally a 12 hour + trip. He wanted to drive from our house in the Highlands all the way to the coast, and after covering it in much prayer me or Sister Marshall couldn't seem to find peace with letting him go.

After talking to him, and spending many hours, and even days in prayer we decided he could go, with one exception. I go with him. The plan was he was going to drive, and take a few young men with him. Well now he has all of these young men, and this old man!

He made the trip in 10 1/2 hours, with no road blocks, very little construction, and only 3 checkpoints which is pretty amazing!

In PNG often times if we go on a multiple hour trip we will come upon different types of road blocks. Some will be police road blocks, which check for registrations, and license to make sure everyone is driving legally. Others include village men who are trying to make the roads better, or remove obstacles from the road etc... and then there are the "rascal road blocks" these are the more common types. You will be going down the road, and men will jump out, or try to flag you down, then make you pay them money for whatever reason. Some times they will take phones, money, luggage, or anything else of value. The Rascal Road Blocks are a bit less common than they used to be, but they do still happen.

Before we left we all gathered around and prayed. Ezekiel told me later that his prayer was very focussed on not hitting any roadblocks, and God heard his cry!

We are now in Lae and this evening is our first service for the OGUSA conference.

What is OGUSA?
OGUSA is a group of Oneness organizations that have united to make sure all of our students get "plugged in" when they graduate. If a child graduates going to an ALJC church, and moves to a place where we can't get them to a church, the OGUSA program will step in and tie them into a UPC, PAW, WPF, or any other One God organization to make sure they are getting fed truth while in college.

I will be ministering Wednesday morning, and everyone who travelled with us will be leaving around 4 am Thursday morning to get back to Mount Hagen for a church opening at Koibuka Church Friday morning at 9:30am.

Great things are happening!

To everyone who has already purchased a copy of my book "THANK YOU!"

Simbu Conference, December Blessings, and More to Come!

On Saturday we went to the Simbu Province to open Nununma Church for Pastor Lapun Yembe. Nununma Church is 58.41 miles from our headquarters according to GPS Kit, and it took us 2 Hours and 23 minutes to get there! Our roads are a little rough to say the least! I am using GPS kit on iPhone to geotag each of our churches. We have over 55 licensed ministers, and some are in pretty secluded places, so I want to make sure to tag each one, so I know the miles, and the time it takes to get there.

All I can say about what is going on right now is…WOW!

During this conference we had 12 Baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, 1 filled with the Holy Ghost, and one Backslider come home!

After talking to some of our Simbu Pastors I found that over the past 14 days there have been (not including the conference) 20 baptized in the name of Jesus Christ!

So in the Simbu Province alone over the past 2 weeks there have been 30 souls baptized!

There was also one reported healing at this conference!

We had a great move of God during this conference, and are excited to accept the challenge from Andrew Yani, who Pastors Cornerstone Apostolic Church in Simbu who said, “This year we have opened 2 churches in Simbu, so next year we need to open even more! There is no reason we can’t open 5 in 2022!”

Nununma Church was our second opening this year in the Simbu Province. Earlier this year we opened a church on the west side of Simbu! The church was Bungalingoo, where we had another great outpouring with 8 souls being baptized in Jesus Name!

We also had our first ALJC PNG Evangelist department crusade/revival at Kal Mountain in the Western Highlands province this week!

Our Evangelist Department Coordinator Matthew Peter is the Pastor at Kal Mountain Church, and came to me with a great idea. He said, “my missionary, we have never had any department like this. Would it be okay if we had a service at my church for a practice run?”

My answer was…”OF COURSE!”

During this revival we had our first Evangelist preach conviction down! You may have seen pictures of me and Charlie Gabriel on social media right before he left for the revival services.

It is great to see the five fold ministry being activated in the nation of Papua New Guinea in the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ! We have more evangelist to be announced, but the coordinator is still working on his list.

During this revival service 2 souls  repented of their sins, and 2 souls were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of those sins!

This brings our numbers from April 2021 - present

214 Repented of their sins

103 Water Baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins

75 filled with the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance

Revival isn’t coming to PNG, Revival is here!

We have one more church opening this year, and it will be December 21— 24 2021 and is at Koibuka Church.

While was sick as we mentioned in last week’s podcast I was finally able to finish my book, well actually I started it when I got sick, and having 2 weeks in the bed I was able to finish about the same time I started feeling well.

I have been talking about writing a book for quite a while, and had time to set down, and finish it mid to late November.

I have had the great honor, and blessing to have some great men of God help me along the way!

Thank you Pastor Wylie Rhinehart for editing! I could only imagine how painful that would be. Trust me I have read it, and know that the Indiana comes out a lot!

Thank you Bro. Robin Johnson, Pastor Jonathan Vazquez, Pastor Jeremy Lang, Pastor Nate Whitley, and Pastor Wylie Rheinhart for the forwards, and recommendations!

We have a launch date of December 18, 2021 with the Kindle version available for preorder now!

This book was written from my point of view to show that the road to being a missionary isn’t always a nice road. It isn’t always a highway, but normally a pretty rough backroad!

This book is to encourage, equip, and help those feeling a call to ministry, and to show even though we try our best to steer our own lives and try to do our best for sometimes 22 years, that once we let go and give it to God he puts us in the place HE calls us within 9 months.

God has taught me while on this road that I must trust and rely on Him and Him alone, and that he will guide my steps.

The link for the preorder is live now, please click

The link for the paperback version will be available on 12/18/2021

Why Podcast and Blog Vs. Newsletter?

The reason we have decided to start this podcast, and all the other forms of digital media is simple…

We are trying to get away from the tradional newsletters that have been seen over the years that become repetitive.

We still plan on doing a quarterly newsletter for the time being, but eventually we would like a more “real time” update for our supporters.

Newsletters cover a braod stroke of what is going on, by trying to squeeze a month, quarter, half, or even a year into one, one page letter.

with the podcast, blog, and social media avenues we can reach much more people on a more consistent basis.

The reason it is called coffee with the missionary, is because so often we fellowship, or even give a bible study over a cup of coffee. I have had many great conversations, with many great people just kicking back, and having a cup of coffee.

If during this podcast you hear me take a sip, or have a gulp of coffee, it is because I actually do set here with a cup of coffee while talking with you, and that is one of the ways that I guage the length, of the conversation.

If the coffee starts getting cold, more than likely the conversation is too! If it stays hot, or gets a refill we cover quite a bit more!

Just to break up the monotony I will be having at least one guest per month to talk about various things both here in PNG, and other paces in the world!

We are in no way trying to keep people from knowing what is going on here, and want to reach out to as many as we can. The newsletters we send are digital, and due to connectivity issues they are very hard to get laid out, and sent while we have good internet connections. With the podcast, blog, and social sites, I can type, record, and edit everything and then air drop it to my phone for uploads overnight, or whenever the signal is strong enough to send it.

One thing that helped make this decision is our last newsletter. It took me until the 21st of the month to finally get logged into mail chimp, and start it. After logged in I kept getting the “unable to save data” gray banner, and then even after I got everything typed out I was unable to add any type of media.

If you follow us on instagram you will see a photo of our car loaded down! We were able to get Everything we needed for the western highlands conference loaded on top and inside.

For those who don’t know quite what a Nissan Patrol is, it is kind of like an oversized pathfinder. It has 3 seats in front, 3 in the middle, and 6 in the back! We have quite a bit of room, but how much can you fit inside?

Well we went to a church service one day with 14 people… but yesterday we pushed the limits!

How many people, and how much equipment will fit in a Patrol, or on the roof rack?

We had 5 people

2 x 5 ft PA Speakers

2 x 4 ft PA Speakers

1 x 9 channel Soundboard

1 x 6 channel Soundboard

50 lbs of flowers

1 x 66 key keyboard

5 x microphones

1 x 12 pc drumset

5 x microphone stands

1 x drummer stool

15 x plastic chairs

10 x audio cables

1 x acoustic guitar

1 x bass guitar

1 x rotating fan

10 x 4 ft light fixtures

4 x 2 ft light fixtures

14 x flourecent light bulbs

The Newest Member of the Coffee With the Missionary Family... The Blog

We started the podcast, Facebook Page, Instagram, and Twitter, Why not kick off a blog to go along with it!

After much thought and consideration I have decided to try to keep everyone updated as many ways as I possibly can to the work here in Papua New Guinea. If for any reason this becomes too time consuming, or it takes away from the ministry here in PNG I will not be posting. (Just a quick disclaimer)

We post to the podcast listed at the top of this blog every Tuesday, and try our best to keep everyone "in the loop" of what is going on here in PNG, but since I have just started this blog I am going to take some time to talk about the podcast that was done yesterday morning.

We have had so much going on over the past couple of weeks, I realize that the podcast from yesterday was a little scattered, but we are excited to see what God is going to do!

As stated in the Podcast here are our year to date totals for New Birth here in PNG. Please note the numbers are from April 2021 - October 2021, and are as follows,

  • Repented of their sins 197
  • Baptized in the name of Jesus Christ 58
  • Filled with the Holy Ghost 74
And we are expecting many more! These stats are from 24 of 50 Churches.
Reports also came in today, that on Sunday Bro Sio in the Solomon Islands baptized 29 souls in JESUS Name on Sunday!

Revival is happening in the South Pacific.

Our vehicle is doing great that we were able to purchase while on deputation, and we found that there was a great blessing in the glove box!

We purchased the vehicle from Kyle Shell in October of 2020 before coming back to PNG, and in September of 2021 the registration expired. When I was going through the paperwork to update the registration I found that Kyle had paid for a roof rack, and a snorkel! The roof rack had been installed, and the labor for both were also paid, but when he took it to have the parts put on the vehicle they were out of snorkels.

After leaving the bmv we went to the dealership, and they ordered us a snorkel, put it on, and we paid $0! What a great blessing!

We have had a record breaking year with the ministers here in PNG, and I am pleased to announce we have 55 ministers that have paid their dues, and that are active members of the ALJC PNG!

We had our handover/takeover service on Wednesday of last week, and now have the following ministers in these positions,
  • General Superentendant - Thomas Wisil
  • Assistant Superentendant - Francis Parak
  • General Secretary - Tom Ua
  • Southern/Western Highlands Presbyter - Ua Malt
  • Jiwaka Presbyter - Benson Kuro
  • Simbu/Eastern Highlands Presbyter - David Marome
  • MOMASE Presbyter - Umba Nurua
  • Home Missions - John Konam
  • World Missions - Patrick Pianga
  • Menistry - Jeffery Degba
  • Women's Esprit - Helen Poi
  • Evangelism - Matthew Peter
  • Discipleship - Phillip Opa
  • Young Couples - Lucas Samuel
  • Apostolic Youth Crusaders Benjamin Jacob
We have recently added 6 new departments which are, Jiwaka Presbyter, World Missions, Menistry, Evangelism, Discipleship, and Young Couples!

We have started the leveling of the ground for our bible college, and excited to move forward with this project! We have a 5 phase plan to complete this project as quickly as possible.

Please subscribe to this blog, our podcast, and all social media to stay in touch with the work here in PNG! I will try to link our social in the next post due to connectivity issues today. (3rd world problems ;))
Stay Blessed,
Bro Marshall
